From the very first edition, we have been truly honored to handle the technical side of this wonderful event organized by Associazione Castello Eventi, named Culatello & Jazz.
The name itself says a lot about what to expect: an experience of great quality, an exceptional event that combines top-level jazz music with the gastronomic excellence of Parma.
The venue, the splendid 15th-century Roccabianca Castle, crowns an exclusive evening that takes place once a year and has been happening for over ten years.
These are moments to be savored and fully enjoyed, and it’s not hard to do so considering that there is always a Michelin-starred chef selecting the perfect wine pairings and local delicacies, with Culatello naturally taking center stage.
At this event, jazz music plays the leading role!
On that stage, we had the honor of hosting and enjoying world-class artists such as Fabrizio Bosso, Flavio Boltro, Roberto Gatto, Robert Bargard, Piero Odorici, Pee Wee Ellis, Stefano Di Battista, Fred Wesley, and many other big names in the genre.
The technical setup is carried out in one long day. It begins in the morning with the assembly of the modular stage, followed by the sound engineers taking care of the audio amplification, while the lighting technicians set up the trusses and lifts.
We aim to have everything powered on by early afternoon to allow enough time for the soundcheck before guests arrive for the aperitif.
As for the scenographic setup, we’ve always chosen to keep it minimal, so as not to overwhelm and damage a location that is already beautiful.
For example, given the stunning ivy-covered backdrop, we’ve always avoided using backdrops that would obscure it, instead opting for lighting from below to enhance it.
Likewise, the aperitif area, in the castle’s internal arcades, was properly illuminated with par LED lights to create a more exciting and less formal atmosphere.
We also tailored the audio service to suit the occasion, considering the genre and the mutual desire to avoid large hanging setups, instead focusing on quality.
Over the years, we’ve used speakers like Bose, Yamaha DX Series, and Kappa, balancing quality and aesthetics.
The music and our skilled technicians made the rest of the magic happen, making this event a true gem in Parma.
